Dr. Tom Smith is an Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice & Legal Studies. He received his doctoral degree in Criminology, Law, & Society from the University of Florida, and recently completed a two-year term as a Postdoctoral Associate in the Bureau of Economic and Business Research at the University of Florida.  His dissertation research focused on social support theory and behavior genetics, and his main research interests include machine learning, network science, social support, policing, science of science, computational social science, and quantitative methods.  His teaching interests and experience include research methods in criminology and statistics.
