Brief bio: 

Francis D. Boateng, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor of Criminal Justice & Legal Studies at the University of Mississippi. He received his master’s and Ph.D. from Washington State University, and his teaching and research interests are in Policing, Comparative Criminology, Victimology, Immigration, Crime, and Terrorism.

Dr. Francis D. Boateng joined the Department of Criminal Justice and Legal Studies, at the University of Mississippi in the Fall of 2016 from the University of Minnesota – Crookston Campus, where he served as an Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice in the Department of Liberal Arts and Education for a little over a year. He received his Ph.D. in criminal justice and criminology from Washington State University and is currently working on a series of projects testing organizational justice and support theories in a comparative context. He is also developing a book manuscript that provides historical and contemporary accounts of policing in Ghana. His main research interests include comparative criminal justice, policing, Police legitimacy, international security, victimology, quantitative research, crime, law, and justice. In addition to presenting papers at professional conferences such as the American Society of Criminology (ASC), Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences (ACJS), and Western Association of Criminal Justice (WACJ), his recent publications have appeared in a number of well-respected journals, including International Criminal Justice Review, Journal of the Institute of Justice and International Studies, Victims & Offenders: An International Journal of Evidence-based Research, Policy, and Practice, International Review of Victimology, Police Practice and Research: An International Journal, International Journal of Offender Therapy and Comparative Criminology, Police Journal: Theory, Practice, and Principles, Journal of Interpersonal Violence, and International Journal for Crime, Justice and Social Democracy. In addition, he is a journal reviewer for over 15 high-ranking peer-review criminal justice and criminology journals.
